St. Joseph's Home Care News
Back to listings

HAMILTON – It is with regret that we inform you that St. Joseph’s Home Care (SJHC) nursing services faces a possible labour disruption situation as our Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) will be in a legal strike position on October 2, 2014.

Our first concern is to make sure our patients receive the care they need in the event St. Joseph’s Home Care nursing services cannot maintain normal operations.

SJHC respects the bargaining process and continues to try to reach a negotiated settlement with our RPNs. We hope to come to an agreement with our staff and prevent strike action before October 2. Nonetheless, we believe it is our responsibility to inform our various stakeholders about what SJHC is doing to mitigate the impact a possible strike could have on patients and their families. We are reviewing our patients’ care needs daily and are collaborating with the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Community Care Access Centre to ensure patient care continues.

We deeply regret the impact this possible labour disruption could have on our patients and their families and are committed to keeping our community informed about our mitigation plans as they are finalized.
